DOOGEE DG300 review

DOOGEE DG300 has a 5 inch IPS screen, although the IPS is not a good one! No top end viewing angles here. But an adequate screen, with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. Powered by dual-core 1.3GHz MTK6572 chipset, so it’s snappy and responsive.

DG300 has 512MB RAM, with about 466MB usable. Which isn’t too bad considering some devices barely reach this even having 512MB RAM.

Comes with has a 2MP camera on the front and a 5MP camera on the back, both of which have decent enough image recording. The flash on the back is also pretty good for a cheapy phone, and fairly bright. Not perfect in absolute darkness, but OK enough to pick up an image. Also packed by a a decent sized 2500mAh battery, so has good battery life.

The accelerometer, proximity sensor, light sensor and distance sensor all seem to function as they should. WiFi is a good and strong connection, and I haven’t tested Bluetooth but it has it built-in anyway.

Main downsides:

– the GPS is slow to connect, very slow! Luckily it has A-GPS support, if you’re in a signal area it can use it in.

– that damn shut off issue! It must be the Mali GPU, either it’s overheating, it’s been overclocked too high, is undervolted too much or the drivers are bad. It’s an annoyance when you can’t watch videos or play games that this phone should easily be able to handle.
